As a special Christmas treat, here’s an 18-track playlist of some of my favourite music coming out of London’s strip clubs this winter—in particular Sunset Strip on Dean Street and The Griffin on Farringdon Road.
Although most don’t realise it, or overlook it, one of the greatest things about the strip club experience is the music. After all, when you get a group of girl from all over the world with wildly different tastes selecting their favourite tunes then it’s inevitable that you will end up with a rich and diverse selection.
As you might expect, rap and trap are overrepresented here—these styles are bread and butter for strippers. But there are also some great rock tunes by Led Zeppelin and Jack White, some slinky electro house, and some great pop courtesy of Rhianna and Rita Ora.
The strip club is a place of performance, and it is in the context of performance that where perhaps contextually unlikely songs (including Love Is Blindness and Paradise Circus) really come to life, enabling the performer and the audience to experience a sense of transcendence together. These are moments to be treasured.

Marvellous trolling at the end there. Do you think Roosh V is weak?
As an ‘aficionado’ of the houses of ill-repute this article made me smile. I grew up on the American/Canadian border (Buffalo, NY) and in the early 90’s I liked to frequent Canadian strip joints; 60% exchange on the American dollar, close proximity, and very few ‘rules’ made for an enjoyable trip… every time.
I can hear the ringing of AC/DC and Motley Crue in my head even today….
Strippers – I raise my glass to you!
