Warsaw

Arriving In Warsaw | Renegade Life

Well, I finally bit the bullet and came to Warsaw.

I’ve been to Poland before, just not the capital city.

I was staying in Berlin, and on a whim booked a train ticket and headed over.

It’s amazing how tired you feel after sitting on a train for 6.5 hours doing fuck all.

Some of the Polish countryside is very beautiful. A lot of it is bland, and flat.

Not flat at all was the gorgeous girl who got on the train at some small-ass Polish city and proceeded to watch comedy shows on her phone for the rest of the journey.

It was a great reminder for me of just how beautiful Polish girls can be. Simple, unadorned, but gorgeous in a healthy, fecund way.

When I go to the city I fucked around in the station for a while, working out where I was staying and so on. And then I took a tram into the centre.

The allure of travelling wears off pretty quickly. It was cold as hell this morning in Berlin, cold on the train, and cold when I hit Warsaw.

I Google-mapped it to my Airbnb. And as is often the way, I got very close, but then—because of some dumb configuration of the streets—it was impossible to find the entrance to the apartment, so I hung around in the cold waiting for my host.

He turned to be a friendly, slightly stoned dude. He’d been to England once. He’d never been to London. Poole in Dorset. But it was in March, and cold.

‘It’s cold as hell here, too.’ I said.

He looked at me and giggled.

I wasn’t sure why.

After I’d dumped my stuff in the flat (another grey, faceless, semi-Soviet block) I went for a walk down to Nowy Swiat (the main daygame strip). Here I went to dine in a fine eatery called Kebab King.

I sit and eat a chicken curry in a wrap.

Poland is cold.

I feel strangely displaced, out of time.

I read Dickens on the train here (Sketches By Boz)

In the cafe I sit near to three young kids. One of them, a good-looking American lad of about 22, all sportswear and slicked-back hair, is discussing his YouTube channel.

And I realise I’m in the same business as him—he’s a fellow content-creator.

Life is strange these days.

I finish up the wrap and head back to my apartment to do a Skype coaching call. Then I head out into the city again for a walk and to attend a 12-step meeting. Then I come back, edit a video, write a bit and chill at the apartment.

I’m supposed to be meeting a girl here—amongst other things. Fuck knows if it will come off or not (she seems flakey).

But the good thing about getting older is I really don’t care that much.

Or is that a bad thing?

I’m not sure.

Anyway, let’s see what tomorrow brings.
